Registered Nursing
Name:
Ron Peek
Program:
Registered Nursing, Class of 2006
I love my job in healthcare because:
I enjoy seeing the various medical conditions presented by patients requesting care. No two days are the same; no two patients are identical, which translates into a very interesting career.
My advice for students interested in healthcare is:
Spend time researching which field of study you are interested in. Speak not only with the staff at BHSLR, but also past graduates of the program you are researching. Then discuss this information you have obtained with your family, which must be prepared for the commitment required to complete your chosen field of study. Family support is critical in achieving your goal. As with anything, proper research, being prepared for the tasks ahead, and dedication are the keys to success.
Do not get intimidated if it appears too difficult, as you will not be alone in your studies. The instructors at Baptist are very dedicated to assisting you in achieving your goal. In every instance when I encountered a "bump in the road", the instructors were there to help me overcome it. A tremendous resource is your fellow students. No one person can do everything well, and the team atmosphere you will develop with your peers will be of great benefit to each of you.
What I enjoyed most about being a student at BHSLR:
I enjoyed the bonds I made with my classmates. Together, we became Registered Nurses. I also enjoyed graduation day! It's a great feeling when you walk down that aisle.
