ACT FACTS

  • American College Test
  • Required for admission to ALL programs regardless of previous educational experience.
  • 3 ½ hours in length.
  • $40.00 testing fee (due at time of registration).
  • BAPTIST HEALTH Schools Little Rock is a residual ACT testing site. Scores may not be transferred to any other institution.
  • Application file will not be complete until satisfactory ACT score is submitted.
  • The scholastic aptitude test (SAT) is accepted in lieu of the ACT. See the respective program director or coordinator for additional information.

    Testing FAQs

    • How do I sign-up to take the ACT at BAPTIST HEALTH Schools Little Rock?
      • To sign up for testing at BAPTIST HEALTH Schools Little Rock, please use the online testing registration form found here. If you do not wish to pay online, you can visit the BHSLR Business Office Monday-Friday between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm, or you can call 501-202-7848 or 501-202-7461 to sign up by phone. Testing registration and payment must be made by 3:00 pm on the day preceding testing.
    • How much does the ACT test cost?
      • The testing fee to take the ACT on the BHSLR campus is $40.00.
    • I took the ACT or SAT many years ago. Do I need to re-test?
      • Possibly, depending on the program to which you are making application. If you are applying for any Registered Nursing Track or the Practical Nursing program, you score will need to be less than ten (10) years old. If your score is over ten (10) years old, you will need to re-test regardless of any degrees or professional licenses held. If you are making application to any of our other programs, you will not need to re-test due to the age of your score. However, you may prefer to re-test for scholarship or admissions purposes.
    • Do you accept the Compass Test?
      • No. BAPTIST HEALTH Schools Little Rock does not accept the Compass Test. The only test that may be substituted for the ACT is the SAT.
    • Does BAPTIST HEALTH "superscore" the ACT/SAT?
      • No, BHSLR does not “superscore” the ACT or SAT. “Superscore” refers to combining subscores from two or more ACT exams to create a new composite score.
    • How many times may I take the ACT?
      • You may take the ACT as many times as you like. However, you must wait 60 days between each test.
    • May I use a calculator on the ACT?
      • Yes, you may use a calculator. But, some calculators are prohibited. Click here to see which calculators are prohibited on the ACT.
    • I have taken the ACT multiple times. Will BAPTIST HEALTH use my most recent test score or my highest test score?
      • BAPTIST HEALTH will use your highest composite test score for admissions purposes. For nursing applicants, the score must be less than ten (10) years old.
    • Is there any way to prepare for the ACT Exam?
      • There are many study guides available for the test. These can be purchased at any major bookstore. Many libraries will also have study materials available for each test. ACT prep materials can be found online here and here.
    • What do I bring the day of the test?
      • The day of testing, you will need your Photo ID, an ACT approved calculator (if desired) and two #2 pencils. Wear comfortable attire and arrive at least thirty minutes prior to testing.
    • Can I have my score(s) sent to other institutions?
      • Because BAPTIST HEALTH Schools Little Rock is an ACT residual testing site, your ACT scores may not be transferred to any other institution. You can make an appointment with Student Services, at 501-202-7461, to view your ACT test scores.
    • Do I need an ACT/or SAT score if I have a college degree?
      • Yes, the ACT/or SAT scores are used as part of the rating tool for our selection process.

    When you come for testing:

    • Bring two #2 Pencils, sharpened
    • Bring a photo ID
    • Arrive 30 minutes prior to time of test
    • Your application MUST be on file in order to test
